Referendum 2011

Referendum 2011 - Vote On Monday the 12th and Tuesday the 13th of December 2011

Polls Open from 9am on Monday the 12th to 4pm on Tuesday the 13th of Decmber 2011 Via PEGASUS

Vote on Monday the 12th and Tuesday the 13th of December 2011 on Pegasus

The current Executive Committee are proposing a change to the structure and roles of the Executive Officers. On Monday the 12th and Tuesday the 13th of December, all students at Strathclyde will get the chance to vote either 'Yes' or 'No' to the proposal.

The Question

"The current Executive Committee is proposing changes to the overall number of fulltime Student Officers on The Executive from 6 to 5 for future years (starting in 2012/13). This will also include a change to the roles of each individual Officer. Do you agree with this new structure?"

The Changes

The roles of each of the Officers within the Executive Committee are laid out in the 'Officers of The Association' Schedule to the Constitution. A schedule is basically an appendix to the Constitution which looks at a specific area. This one does exactly what it says on the tin and you can see the full Constitution & Schedules here

The Executive Committee have re-written this document and the major changes are as follows:

  1. Number of Officers - The current model comprises 6 full-time Officers responsible for running the Association and Representing students on every aspect of thier student experience at Strathclyde and beyond. The new model reduces that number from 6 to 5 full-time Officers
  2. Roles -  The new proposed model takes all the areas that are currently covered and redistributes the roles so that all aspects are still covered
  3. Titles - With changes to roles, comes changes to titles - The Executive hope that they reflect the new roles that they've created
  4. Knock-on effects - By reducing the number of Student Officers on The Executive Committee, this proposal will aslo reduce the number of Vice Chairs from 6 to 5. This, in turn, means that the overall number of Student Officers sitting on the Board of Trustees will reduce from 12 to 10. The new make-up of the Board of Trustees will be 5 full-time Executive Officers, 5 Vice Chairs and 4 External Trustees

The Proposal

We've tried to make this as simple as possible to understand, so we've created a table to list each of the Officer Positions and their general responsibilities within their new roles.

The full proposal is also listed below which will give you a little bit more detail as well as a similar table describing the current Executive Officer Roles & Remits.
