Engineers Without Borders

Engineers Without Borders

Aims & Objectives:
  • To educate ourselves and others in International Development issues through workshops, events, talks and outreach
  • To improve conditions in the developing world through research and placements
  • To bridge the gap between students and professionals

Engineers without borders is a student led society which aims to reduce poverty and poor living conditions internationally through education and engineering. We do outreach into schools to teach teenagers about how intelligent but basic engineering can be a solution to poor sanitation and a lack of clean water. We also educate ourselves through talks and conferences about the main barriers to development and what we can do to bring these down. This year some of our groups are working on a system for emptying pit latrines and a wind power project.

Scottish Conference at Strathclyde

We are not just looking for engineers! We need teachers and business students, mathematicians and scientists as well as social scientists. So if you are interested, drop me an email on strathclyde@ewb-uk.org and come along to a Monday meeting 5-6p.m. in LT511.
