Lesbian, Gay, Bi* and Trans.

USSA LGBT is dedicated to achieving equality for our community in Strathclyde Union and beyond. We provide a safe space for socialising and a platform for political activism, with members representing the group at Pride marches and rallies throughout the year; most noteable of which was the Leelah Alcorn Solidarity Demonstration.

The LGBT Society runs different events throughout the year including social events, film screenings, political campaigns and trips to local LGBT friendly venues. Events are also organised specifically to coincide with the LGBT History Month.

Regular meetings for LGBT students take place within the union. Please contact the LGBT committe for more information, or to access available space.

This year we have worked together with other liberation societies on the campaign about fighting stereotypes, as well as lauched our own awareness campaign on diferent LGBTQ+ identities, during the Diversity Week. There is a plan in action to work together with other Glaswegian LGBT societies on abolishing the blood ban, as well as several campaigns to do with BTQ+ visibility and Trans* health. Email ussa.lgbt@strath.ac.uk if you have any campaign ideas!
