on target for our studentsOK, so there have been a few queries about who can get into the Union and who can't; how many guests you can sign in; what form of ID is required; etc. So, here goes with a definitive answer:

Strathclyde Students

ALL Strathclyde students can access the Union Building for events, even if they are under 18. Each Strathclyde student can sign in up to 4 guests. This group are called Ordinary Members

Other University/College Students

Students from other Universities or colleges can access the Union building, provided that they are over 18 and have acceptable ID (see below). Students from Glasgow Uni or Glasgow Caley Uni can sign in up to 4 guests, whilst students from colleges can sign in up to 2 guests. This group are called Reciprocal Members

Guests

All guests are the responsibility of the person who signed them in at the door and are required to provide acceptable ID (see below) to prove they are over 18. If any guest breaks the Association Rules or generally causes trouble, the person who signed them in will be subject to the Association’s disciplinary procedures.

Acceptable ID

For Strathclyde students, all that is required is a current matriculation card. For everyone else (reciprocal member and all guests), you will need to have proof of ID and must be over 18. Valid ID is usually a Provisional/Diving Licence or Passport, but we also accept any valid card with ‘The Pass’ logo/hologram on it.

As a licensed premises, it is our responsibility to make sure that anyone entering our bars are of legal age to purchase alcohol. This means that not only will you be asked for ID on the front door, but, as best practice, we will also ID people at the bar.

That’s pretty much it. We want our Members and Reciprocal members to be able to enjoy a variety of events in a comfortable and safe environment, so I hope that you can all continue to enjoy Strathclyde Union and all of the events that we put on.
