Thanks for your support.
Dear Principal,
The Scottish Government has proposed a cut of 20% to Scottish colleges over the next three years; these cuts coming on top of a 10% cut announced last year which has already led to increased class sizes, reduced teaching hours, course closures and over 1,000 staff losing their jobs.
In my opinion, colleges have been disproportionately hit and further cuts are a serious threat to Scotland and our local community here in Glasgow.
As my Principal, I call on you to support the NUS Scotland campaign and commit to the pledges below:
- protect the budget for college student support at 2011/12 levels;
- stop any cuts to college places;
- protect college teaching quality;
- and to protect local access.
Studying at college prepares people from all walk of life with the skills and knowledge required to build a successful future and I hope you will support this endeavour to ensure these opportunities are available for the next generation.
Yours Sincerely,
