NUS Ready to Rent
Renting for the first time can be daunting, but by knowing your rights you will stand a better chance of avoiding any dodgy landlords or agencies out there. USSA are supporting the exciting new programme by NUS Ready to Rent which aims to support renters to develop the knowledge and confidence they need to find good quality housing and assert their rights.
Our section on your 'rights, safety and security' give you a little more information on landlord registration and tenant/landlord responsabilities.
NUS Ready to Rent have created some great checklists and guides to help you along the way, you can download them from the links below or by going to the NUS Ready to Rent website.
You can also take a look at the Signing a Contract and Tenancy Tips video below created to help you understand your rights and obligations as a tenant before you sign!
The best way to avoid issues later on is to make sure everything is in place BEFORE you sign. However with all the best will in the world sometimes things do go wrong. If you are having any difficulties with your tenancy, we are here to help. You can contact an advisor by email, dropping into the Advice Hub or by phone (0141 567 5040).
