Smoking Survey

USSA's Smoking Survey

A major theme of Health Body Healthy Mind this year is supporting students to limit, reduce or quit smoking.  As part of this campaign we conducted research into the attitudes of current, former and non-smokers to gather information and establish what is most helpful in helping to reduce smoking on campus and so that we will know how best to focus our future work.

Thank you to the 447 people who took part in the survey over February!  We have crunched the numbers to see what you've told us and learnt lots of useful facts about Strathclyde's attitudes towards smoking and your smoking habits.  The report is attached below but here are the key findings which we will soon be advertising across campus!  If you would like help to quit you can also find useful information here.

85% of Strathclyde students feel cigarette smoke or second hand cigarette smoke is damaging to their health and wellbeing

93% of Strathclyde students don’t smoke or want to quit smoking

95% of Strathclyde’s former smokers have seen an improvement in their health and wellbeing since they quit
