Question Time Debate
6pm - The Debates Chamber, Strathclyde Union
In collaboration with the Strathclyde Debates Society, we are holding a question time debate to discuss topics of renewable energy and sustainable development in Scotland.
The Scottish Government has set an ambitious target of meeting Scotland's energy needs in 2020 with 100% renewables. Has the government suddenly woken up to the challenge of climate change and realised the country's vulnerability to energy imports? Or is this political posturing that will end up costing a significantly stretched public in the form of rising energy costs? Is 100% of our energy needs from renewable power sources even possible?
Panel members include:
- Stewart Stevenson MSP and Minister for Environment and Climate Change (SNP)
- Patrick Harvie MSP (Green Party)
- Prof Joe Clarke
- Prof Robert Kalin (member of Scotland 20:20 Climate Change group)
- Tom Ballantine (Chair of Stop Climate Chaos Scotland)

A critical mass is a group of people who decide to ride around town in the same direction. There is no planned route - it's up to whoever is in front to choose where to go. If there are enough people on the road, then it will go 'critical' - a mass of cyclists that can take over the road and ride together in safety.
